Are you shopping around for a compact sedan? Are you considering the 2018 Nissan Sentra and the 2018 Hyundai Elantra? Both sedans are great choices, but we think you might find the Sentra is the right car for you.

The 2018 Sentra has two available engines: the 1.8-L DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine that delivers 124 HP and 125 lb.-ft. of torque and the 1.6-L Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG™) turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that delivers 188 HP and 177 lb.-ft. of torque. The Elantra does not feature a DIG™ engine.

Both engines can be paired with the available Xtronic® Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). This type of transmission has less moving parts, and in turn causes less wear and tear on the transmission since there is no “shifting” in the traditional sense. You can expect this transmission to work harder and longer.

If you are looking for a compact sedan with an optimized performance, you might consider the Sentra NISMO® model, equipped with the 1.6-L DIG™ engine. Nissan NISMO® is perfectly engineered to provide a thrilling ride and even take it out on the racetrack (not a feature the Elantra can claim). The name NISMO® derives from Nissan Motorsport, so you can expect it performs like a sportscar.

Think of Nissan Intelligent Mobility™1  as your sidekick while you drive. We can’t stress how important it is to be aware of your surroundings while driving but having a little back up is certainly nice to have to become a better driver. Features included in Nissan Intelligent Mobility™ consist of:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control2
  • Automatic Emergency Braking3
  • Blind Spot Warning4
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert5

NissanConnect®6  allows you to set alerts and notifications, such as emergency alerts and notifications if you’ve been in a collision, roadside assistance alerts, speed alerts and curfew alerts. You can also remotely lock/unlock your Sentra and start/stop the engine. This technology is also compatible with your smart phone and voice-responsive.

Furthermore, your Sentra is equipped with Siri® Eyes Free6 (not available in the 2018 Elantra). Through a button on your steering wheel, you can access Siri on your iPhone to call and send texts, set reminders for yourself and much more!

You also have the option in higher trim models for eight Bose® speakers and two subwoofers. You won’t find this number of speakers, or this great quality of speakers in the Hyundai Elantra.
