Performance

The 2019 Sentra has various trim models to choose from, and depending on the trim, it will be equipped with one of two engines, a 1.8-L 4-cylinder engine or a 1.6-L DIG turbocharged engine. The 1.8-L delivers 124 HP and 125 lb.-ft. of torque. The 1.6-L delivers 188 HP and 177 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2019 Cruze also offers two engine options, a 1.4-L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a 1.6-L turbo-diesel engine. The diesel is only available on the diesel trim. The 1.4-L delivers 153 HP and 177 lb.-ft. of torque, and the diesel delivers 137 HP and 240 lb.-ft. of torque. Both sedans offer similar power, but the Nissan Sentra is also equipped with an XTRONIC® Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). This is a more efficient transmission than you’re standard automatic transmission. The Chevrolet Cruze does not offer a CVT.

Cargo

The 2019 Sentra offers a little more cargo space in the trunk than the 2019 Cruze (15.1 cubic feet vs. 14.8 cubic feet). The Sentra’s rear seat also can fold into a 60/40 split, so you can store larger objects and also have a seat for an extra passenger. The Cruze’s rear seats do not have split fold, so if you need to fold the seats down for more space, you lose the whole back seat and cannot accommodate any more passengers.

Other Features

Additionally, the 2019 Sentra has larger tires (205/55R16 vs. The Cruze’s 195/65R16) that allow for better road traction. The Sentra also has an easy-fill tire alert that lets you know when the tire is filled with enough air. The Cruze does not offer this feature.

To help reduce the harsh light from headlights behind you, the rearview mirror in the Sentra will automatically dim. The Cruze does not feature an automatic dimming rearview mirror.
