The 2019 Nissan Altima’s VC-Turbo™ engine delivers varying HP and torque depending on the fuel used. When using 93-octane fuel, the Altima delivers 248 HP and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. When using 87-octane fuel, the Altima delivers 236 HP and 267 lb.-ft. of torque. The only Toyota Camry that delivers similar torque is the XSE and XLE models equipped with a 3.5-L DOHC V6 engine (267 lb.-ft. of torque). Other trim models with a 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder engine deliver 184 lb.-ft. of torque and 186 lb.-ft. of torque, thus showing the 2019 Nissan Altima equipped with a VC-Turbo™ engine is more powerful.
A 2.5-L DIG engine is also available in the 2019 Nissan Altima and delivers 188 HP and 180 lb.-ft. of torque.
The 2019 Nissan Altima is also equipped with an XTRONIC® CVT, which is not available in the 2019 Toyota Camry. This type of transmission allows for more seamless shifting and works more efficiently than a regular automatic transmission. There are less moving parts, so over time, there will be less wear and tear.
The 2019 Nissan Altima is also fuel efficient. The VC-Turbo™ engine gets 25 mpg city/34 mpg hwy (compared to 22 mpg city/33 mpg hwy in the Toyota Camry XLE V6). The Altima with a 2.5-L DIG engine has a fuel economy of 28 mpg city/39 mpg hwy.
The 2019 Nissan Altima uses regular unleaded gas, but the Toyota Camry XSE and XLE require premium gas, which is more expensive than regular unleaded. The Nissan Altima also has a larger fuel tank allowing for better range between gas fill ups. To put it simply, the 2019 Nissan Altima will save you more money than the Toyota Camry when it comes to fuel costs.
The 2019 Nissan Altima is Nissan’s first sedan to feature Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. This feature is not offered in the 2019 Toyota Camry. Intelligent All-Wheel Drive constantly monitors road conditions and sends power to the wheels that need it most to maximize traction.
The 2019 Nissan Altima features a key-activated remote engine start, which is not offered in the Toyota Camry.
Apple CarPlay™ is available in both the Nissan Altima and the Toyota Camry, but the Toyota Camry does not offer Android Auto™ capability, while the Altima does.
The Nissan Altima also features Nissan Intelligent Mobility™ (not available in the Toyota Camry) which is Nissan’s package of driver-assist technologies that allow you to drive a more connected and confident ride.
NissanConnect® allows you to connect your phone to your Nissan and create security and other alerts, find gas stations along your route, use the navigation system and use apps on your phone like Spotify, Pandora and Apple Music. This is not available in the Toyota Camry.
