Compared to the competition, the 2019 Nissan Altima simply offers more features than the 2019 Hyundai Sonata. Visit Sheridan Nissan to learn more.
The 2019 Nissan Altima is Nissan’s first sedan to feature Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, which is not an available option in the 2019 Hyundai Sonata. Intelligent All-Wheel Drive monitors road conditions at all times and sends power to the wheels that need it most to maximize traction.
The 2019 Nissan Altima also features active grilled shutters, which reduce airflow and drag to the engine when needed, thus improving fuel economy. This feature is not offered in the Hyundai Sonata. The new Altima also features active noise cancellation (not a feature in the Sonata), which shuts out all outside noise from the engine or wind.
The 2019 Nissan Altima’s VC-Turbo™ engine delivers varying HP and torque depending on the fuel used. When using 93-octane fuel, the Altima delivers 248 HP and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. When using 87-octane fuel, the Altima delivers 236 HP and 267 lb.-ft. of torque. A 2.5-L DIG engine is also available in the 2019 Nissan Altima and delivers 188 HP and 180 lb.-ft. of torque.
The engines available in the Sonata deliver a range of 178 HP to 245 HP (depending on engine) and 195 lbs.-ft. of torque to 260 lbs.-ft. of torque. The 2019 Nissan Altima engine options deliver more power than that of the Hyundai.
The 2019 Nissan Altima is also equipped with an XTRONIC® CVT, which is not available in the 2019 Hyundai. This type of transmission allows for more seamless shifting and works more efficiently than a regular automatic transmission. There are less moving parts, so over time, there will be less wear and tear.
The 2019 Nissan Altima is also fuel efficient. The VC-Turbo™ engine gets 25 mpg city/34 mpg hwy (compared to 23 mpg city/32 mpg hwy in the Hyundai Accent). The Altima with a 2.5-L DIG engine has a fuel economy of 28 mpg city/39 mpg hwy, while the Hyundai counterpart has a fuel economy of 26 city mpg/35 mpg hwy.
Additionally, the 2019 Altima has an auto start/stop engine that turns off and on in dense traffic or at a red light. This reduces pollution and saves fuel. The 2019 Sonata does not feature a start/stop system.
The 2019 Nissan Altima features a key-activated remote engine start to either warm up or cool down your Altima before you are ready to hit the road. You won’t find this feature in the 2019 Hyundai Sonata.
The Nissan Altima also features Nissan Intelligent Mobility™ (not available in the Hyundai) which is Nissan’s package of driver-assist technologies that allow you to drive a more connected and confident ride. The Altima also features an Around View Monitor, which allows you to see all your surroundings front, back and side to side. The Sonata only features a rear monitor and reverse parking monitor.
NissanConnect® allows you to connect your phone to your Nissan and create security and other alerts, find gas stations along your route, use the navigation system and use apps on your phone like Spotify, Pandora and Apple Music. This is not available in the Hyundai.
